A vintage-inspired minimalist laundry makeover

When it comes to laundry rooms - the words fun and whimsy don’t spring to mind. For our laundry room makeover, we wanted to create a space with personality, a sense of drama and practicality. I loved the idea of a ‘bare bones’ laundry - exposed timber shelves, raw textures combined with brass, focussing on ‘luxe’ elements with a minimalist approach.

A design 'trend' (that isn't a design trend but a technique used by interior designers for years) is complete colour saturation. Our laundry is the smallest room in the house and gets the least sunlight. No amount of light-coloured paint will make it look or feel any bigger than it is so we decided to go the complete opposite route and embrace the dark side.

Am I obsessed with Valspar Paint’s ‘Natural Rustic’? 100% YES. I think the deep, rich shade of green is officially my new favourite colour. It’s got the right amount of moodiness  - whilst feeling rustic (just like the name implies). It was the perfect colour for our laundry makeover.  Seagrass baskets, glass jars, and thrifted pottery - tied everything together and amped up the vintage cottage vibe.
